World Championship 2020 in Serbia

IUKL World kettlebell championship 2019 was held in Novi Sad (Serbia). Professional athletes, juniors, amateurs and veterans competed during 5 days. More than 500 partisipants from 33 countries. It was first time of such big kettlebell event in Serbia and it was really beautyful.

Lot of really great results were achieved during this championship. Lot of ladies were competing this time and more professional athletes than last time. One of greatest result was competing of very young athlete from Kazakhstan Nikita Drutsa. He won biathlon of 78 kg bodyweight class with result 148 jerks and 159 snatches. He is only 16 years old.

Russian team won team competition. Second place - Ukraine, third place - Kazakhstan.

World Championship 2020 will be hosted in the capital of Hungary - Budapest.

SportAccord convention 2019

SportAccord convention 2019. Gold Coast, Australia

International Union of kettlebell Lifting (IUKL) took part of the biggest multisport event – SportAccord convention 2019 in Gold Coast (Queensland, Australia). During convention they had many different forums, meetings and exhibition. IUKL delegation consist of Valentin Egorov (Russia), Rhonda Glick (USA), Cheryl Schneider (Australia) and Shannon Pigdon (Australia). 

It was really nice representing of kettlebell sport for a lot of important people and organizations. 8t secretary general of the United Nations Mr Ban Ki-Moon was on IUKL stand, asked some questions about kettlebells, competition rules and tried to lift kettlebells.

IUKL has membership certificate till October 2019. GAISF should decide about awarding IUKL by the next certificate in November.

Asian kettlebell championship 2018, Busan

The first official IUKL Asian kettlebell championship was held in Korean Busan. Athletes from 8 countries were there for competing: China, Mongolia, Russia, Japan, Lithuania, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and South Korea. 

Lot of athletes were competing in amateur class. Not many asians can lift 32 kg kettlebell.

Korean team won team competition, team Russia – second place and team Kazakhstan – third place.

Welcome to the next championship of Asia the next year!

NEW WORLD RECORDS IN LATVIA

World kettlebell Championship 2018, DaugavpilsIUKL World Kettlebell Championship 2018 was held 10th-15th October in Daugavpils (Latvia). Representatives of 32 teams took part of this competition (30 countries and 2 International academies), around 600 participants. More and more professional athletes every year. Competitors getting stronger, numbers getting bigger watching getting more interesting.

The most interesting competing was  showed by Ivan Markov (Russia). He achieved 3 new absolute world records: 176 jerks, 125 snatches and 288,5 points of biathlon. It is incredible result!

The new official discipline of IUKL International competitions – ladie’s long cycle. It is very hard exercise for ladies. It was very interesting for watching. The first great result was 71 reps - Kårstad Støfring Beate (Norway), she won bw category 68 kg. Then visitors could watch most interesting competing between Kimberly Fox (USA) and Irina Martynova (Russia). Iriva won this competition with result 73 reps. Kimberly’s result is 68 reps.

Every year we were watching strong competition between Nikolay Kichimaev (Russia) and Eugeny Goncharov (Kazakhstan). Long cycle, bodyweight class over 95 kg. This time Nikolay won 88:83.

First three places of team competition: Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan.

4th Stage of World Cup

4th Stage of World Cup of kettlebell sport

IV stage of World kettlebell cup was held in Enkhaluk (Russia, Buryatia) 10th – 12th August. 

It was 3rd time of holding stage of World cup there on the shore of Lake Baikal. This time athletes from 9 countries came to compete there: Chile, Denmark, France, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgizstan, Israel and Russia. Total 108 athletes.

Winners of kettlebell competition:

Long cycle:

63 kg – Vasily Nedorezov (Russia)

73 kg – Sergey Kargin (Russia)

85 kg – Sergey Rysnik (Russia)

Over 85 kg – Sergey Lyubimskiy (Russia)

Ladie’s snatch:

63 kg – Natalya Eliseeva (Russia)

Over 63 kg – Yulia Rikhter (Russia)

Biathlon:

63 kg –Dmitry Mikhalev (Russia)

73 kg – Andrey Rassadin (Russia)

85 kg – Anton Anasenko (Russia)

Over 85 kg – Aleksandr Vdovenko (Russia)

Russian team won the first place of team competition, Kazakhstan was second, Denmark – third place.

Youths european championship 2018 - kettlebell sportGarliava city (Lithuania) was a place of holding IUKL European youth’s kettlebell championship 31th June – 2 July. The same time they have 3 rd Stage of World Cup.

9 countries were represented on youths competition: Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, England, Belorussia, Ireland and Estonia. We have more and more young athletes for kettlebell competitions. And their result getting stronger and stronger every year. 

Our little boys and girls are the future of kettlebell sport, we wish them to increase their results every year!

RUSSIAN CHAMPIONSHIP 2018

Russian girevoy sport championship 2018

Russian championship of girevoy sport is a strongest kettlebell competition around the world. This year Russian championship was held 24-26 May in Saint Petersburg. Lifters can take part of this event only by special invitation from RGSF (Russian Girevoy Sport Federation). This year they in Russia have some new rules for competitions. Now they have less bodyweight categories: only 5 male classes (63,68,73,78,85,+85) and only 2 female classes (63 and +63). But Russian ladies have a new official discipline – two arm long cycle. Weight in procedure  should be two hours before competition.

There are  many really strong results. The first day was long cycle competition and ladie’s snatch. BW class 68 kg was most  interesting flight for watching. First place – Aleksey Ryabkov (78 reps), 2nd place – Vladimir Kobzar (76 reps) and 3rd place – Anton Ryzhkov (74).

Alexandra Vasileva won 63 kg category with 180 repetitions. Irina Martynova won “over 63 kg.” category with 200 snatches of 24 kg.

Irina Martynova has a strongest result of ladies long cycle – 54 reps (2*24 kg.).

Biathlon. The strongest flights were bw classes 73 kg and over 85 kg. Vladimir Smirnov won 73 kg category with 244,5 point (it is new Russian record).  Vladimir Gurov and Ivan Marov had same points – 267 reps in biathlon. V. Gurov’s bodyweight was little less and he won this competition.

First three teams of team competition are Saint Peterburg, Tyumen region and Kaluga region.

EUROPEANS 2018 IN HUNGARY

Euro kettlebell championship 2018, Hungary

European Championship was held in Hungarian Kecskemét. 24 teams took part in the event. More and more really strong athletes attend International kettlebell competitions. It was the first time ladie’s long cycle was a part of official competition program (prof class and amateurs). The same time there were competitions among juniors and veterans. A lot of great results were achieved by athletes in different classes and different bodyweight categories. 

First ten places of team competition were:
Russia - 298 points
Ukraine - 268 points
Hungary - 172 points
Ireland - 168 points
Poland - 101 points
Estonia - 98 points
Germany - 95 points
Finland - 91 points
Lithuania - 82 points
Kazakhstan - 81 points

It was really nice event. There were good conditions for competitors and for guests of this big event. Head of city Kecskemét said not so many sports can bring so many people in such little city. Many thanks to head of organizing committee - László Barcsik.

5-7 th July same competition for Asian countries will be held in South Korea. It will be first time IUKL official Asian Championship.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2017

World kettlebell championship 2017, Seoul, Korea

IUKL World championship was held 15th-19th November in Seoul (South Korea). Competition was in Olympic park where Olympic Games 1988 were hosted. This time around 500 athletes from 35 countries came to Seoul for competing. There were more athletes from Asian countries than usually. 

TAFISA President had speech of opening ceremony and took part of awarding ceremony the last day of competition.  Russian athletes had best results of most weight categories. Second place of team competition – Kazakhstan, then Ukraine, Lithuania and Korea.

New world records from this championship. Biathlon. Bw class 73kg: Vladimir Smirnov, Jerk – 141, biathlon – 234.5 points. Bw class 78 kg: Mikhail Kvashnin, snatch – 234. Bw – 85 kg: Anton Anasenko, snatch  - 208 points. Bw class 95 kg: Vladimir Gurov, biathlon – 255points.

Long cycle. Only one new world record – 88 points by Pavel Chuev in bw class 78 kg.

Ladies one arm LC was a part of official WC program. But two arm LC was more interesting this time (it was just trial competition). Very impressive competing was between athletes from different countries. They had no bodyweight categories. Kim Fox from US won first place with 64 reps of 24s. Støfring Beate Kårstad has only one rep less result – 63 and silver medal. 

The next world championship will be in Daugavpils (Latvia), October 2018.

IUKL received Observer status of GAISF

IUKL became member of GAISF

2nd October 2017 (in Lausanne)– The Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) announced the first International Federations to achieve Observer Status.

The International Kettlebell Lifting Union (IUKL) is delighted and proud to have been granted Observer Status of the Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) and to be accepted into the Olympic Family.

Our congratulations for all kettlebell lifters!

Youth's European Championships 2017

Youth’s European Championships U-16/U-18 were held in Irish Wexford 21th-23th July. Open European Cup and Grand Prix series were held the same time same place. A few young athletes competed among youths and the next day among adults. For example Russian boy Egor Demyshev competed in Long cycle wit 16 kg kettlebells and achieved 1th place with 137 repetitions. The next day he competed in biathlon of Euro Cup with 32 kg kettlebells and achieved 2nd place with 197 points!

Another great competing was from little 14 years old Russian girl. Elizaveta Safronova won youth’s competition with 245 snatches of 12 kg kettlebell. The next day she won Euro Cup with 86 reps of 24 kg kettlebell!

Many thanks for Irish organizators for friendly holding of competition and for great conditions of competing.

SportAccord membership workshop

SportAccordSportAccord Membership Application Manager Davide Delfini and IUKL vice President Igor SolodovSportAccord membership workshop was hold 15-16 June in Lausanne (Switzerland). Representatives of 49 sport federations took part of this event. These federations are potential SportAccord members. SportAccord is organization that unites all (Olympic and non-Olympic) international sports federations as well as organisers of multi-sports games and sport-related international associations. SportAccord is an international sport organisation with 92 full members. It works in cooperation with IOC (International Olympic Committee). Representatives of 49 sport federations were in Lausanne. 

First part of this event is presentations of SportAccord’s principles and criteria. Second part – is personal interviews and sports presentations. Kettlebell sport was presented by Igor Solodov and Valentin Egorov. They had only 30 minutes for full demonstrations and questions from SportAccord representatives. The Commission noted the uniqueness and originality of our sport, as well as its high development in many countries around the world. The first step for IUKL – observer status of membership in SportAccord. IUKL should receive this status very soon.
