WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2017

World kettlebell championship 2017, Seoul, Korea

IUKL World championship was held 15th-19th November in Seoul (South Korea). Competition was in Olympic park where Olympic Games 1988 were hosted. This time around 500 athletes from 35 countries came to Seoul for competing. There were more athletes from Asian countries than usually. 

TAFISA President had speech of opening ceremony and took part of awarding ceremony the last day of competition.  Russian athletes had best results of most weight categories. Second place of team competition – Kazakhstan, then Ukraine, Lithuania and Korea.

New world records from this championship. Biathlon. Bw class 73kg: Vladimir Smirnov, Jerk – 141, biathlon – 234.5 points. Bw class 78 kg: Mikhail Kvashnin, snatch – 234. Bw – 85 kg: Anton Anasenko, snatch  - 208 points. Bw class 95 kg: Vladimir Gurov, biathlon – 255points.

Long cycle. Only one new world record – 88 points by Pavel Chuev in bw class 78 kg.

Ladies one arm LC was a part of official WC program. But two arm LC was more interesting this time (it was just trial competition). Very impressive competing was between athletes from different countries. They had no bodyweight categories. Kim Fox from US won first place with 64 reps of 24s. Støfring Beate Kårstad has only one rep less result – 63 and silver medal. 

The next world championship will be in Daugavpils (Latvia), October 2018.

IUKL received Observer status of GAISF

IUKL became member of GAISF

2nd October 2017 (in Lausanne)– The Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) announced the first International Federations to achieve Observer Status.

The International Kettlebell Lifting Union (IUKL) is delighted and proud to have been granted Observer Status of the Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) and to be accepted into the Olympic Family.

Our congratulations for all kettlebell lifters!

Youth's European Championships 2017

Youth's European Championships 2017

Youth’s European Championships U-16/U-18 were held in Irish Wexford 21th-23th July. Open European Cup and Grand Prix series were held the same time same place. A few young athletes competed among youths and the next day among adults. For example Russian boy Egor Demyshev competed in Long cycle wit 16 kg kettlebells and achieved 1th place with 137 repetitions. The next day he competed in biathlon of Euro Cup with 32 kg kettlebells and achieved 2nd place with 197 points!

Another great competing was from little 14 years old Russian girl. Elizaveta Safronova won youth’s competition with 245 snatches of 12 kg kettlebell. The next day she won Euro Cup with 86 reps of 24 kg kettlebell!

SportAccord membership workshop

SportAccordSportAccord Membership Application Manager Davide Delfini and IUKL vice President Igor SolodovSportAccord membership workshop was hold 15-16 June in Lausanne (Switzerland). Representatives of 49 sport federations took part of this event. These federations are potential SportAccord members. SportAccord is organization that unites all (Olympic and non-Olympic) international sports federations as well as organisers of multi-sports games and sport-related international associations. SportAccord is an international sport organisation with 92 full members. It works in cooperation with IOC (International Olympic Committee). Representatives of 49 sport federations were in Lausanne. 

First part of this event is presentations of SportAccord’s principles and criteria. Second part – is personal interviews and sports presentations. Kettlebell sport was presented by Igor Solodov and Valentin Egorov. They had only 30 minutes for full demonstrations and questions from SportAccord representatives. The Commission noted the uniqueness and originality of our sport, as well as its high development in many countries around the world. The first step for IUKL – observer status of membership in SportAccord. IUKL should receive this status very soon.

European Championships 2017

European kettlebell championships 2017, Daugavpils

European Championships were held 12th-15th May in Latvian Daugavpils. Junior’s and Veteran’s championships were held the same time together with professional class. Partisipants of 21 countries took part of this competitions. First six countries of team competition were: Russia (278 points), Ukraine (250 points), Latvia (207 points), Lithuania (181 points), Ireland (153 points), Kazakhstan (133 points).

Ladies one arm long cycle was a part of official competition program. OALC will be on World Championships in Seoul too. Double arm LC for ladies will be just “trial LC competition”.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2016

WORLD KETTLEBELL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2016, AktobeWorld Championship of Kettlebell Sport (IUKL) was held 27-30 October in Aktobe city (Kazakhstan). It was greatest International kettlebell event of this year. Kazakhstan girevoy sport federation organized this championship on really high level. They had support from government. They had a lot of promotion of the championship around Aktobe city. Competition venue – “KONYS” – was decorated according kettlebell championship style! Openning ceremony was very interesting, they were showing Kazakhstan national dancing and songs. All athletes said it was great competition, good conditions for competing!

The same time they have championships among juniors (up to 22 years old) and veterans.

Winners of World Championships:

Biathlon: J.Benidze (151+167), V. Smirnov (132+172), A.Khvostov (130+186), M.Kvashnin (145+210), O.Kolomiets (220), V.Gurov (155+191), A.Zybaylo (140+166)

Long cycle: A.Ryabkov (66), A.Ryzhkov (72), I.Belyaev (85), V.Polyanskiy (80), I.Kulakov (85), A.Kravtsov (83), N.Kichimaev (85).

Snatch: O.Yaryomenko (201), K.Dedyukhina (160), A.Vasileva (197), A.Zolotaryova (190).

The next world Championship will be hosted in Seoul (South Korea), 15-19 November 2017, the same time with TAFISA General Congress.

Youth's Euro Championship and other IUKL comps in Daugavpils

Euro Championship among youth and 3rd stage of World CupFour kettlebell  tournaments were held the same time in Latvian Daugavpils: Youth’s European championship, III Stage of World cup, III Stage of Grand Prix series and First trial IUKL women LC competition. More and more young athletes comes to compete every year.  This time there were around 200 participants (for all competitions).

Results of young athletes become stronger and stronger too. Russia was strongest team. But Russians didn’t compete in women’s LC competition. Ladies from USA, Ireland and Norway were very strong in LC.

Russian youths won relay race with total result 310 repetitions (kettlebells 24 kg). Ukrainian men won relay race of World Cup’s stage.

Specialists of Latvian anti-doping organization were on these competitions and took a few tests.

Kettlebell Championship of Europe

Kettlebell Championship of Europe 2016, PolandEuropean kettlebell lifting championship 2016 was held in Poland (Gdynia city) 11-15 May. More then 350 athletes from 24 countries were competing there. A lot of really strong athletes from Russia, Ukraine, Ireland, Norway, Italy. Not only European countries competed there – few guys from USA and Kazakhstan were competing too. First 10 countries of team competition are Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Ireland, Lithuania, Finland, Norway, Italy, Poland, Sweden.

There were many interesting results: Jerk (bw class 85 kg) Gafarov (Russia) -124, Kolomiets (Ukraine) – 123, Sobochan (Slovenia) – 120. Jerk (bw class 95 kg) Pugachev (Russia) – 141, Amodio (Italy) – 120, Balnionis (Lithuania) – 118. Long cycle (bw class 95 kg) Gancharov (Kazakhstan) – 78, Kolyakov (Russia) 85. Ladies snatch (bw class 68 kg) Gorbunova (Russia) – 131, Johnston (Scotland) -125.

TAFISA GAMES 2016

TAFISA GAMES 2016The 6-thTAFISA World Sport for All Games will be held 6-12 October in Jakarta (Indonesia). Kettlebell sport was included in a program of the Games. Previously known that kettlebell competition will consist of three standard disciplines: biathlon and long cycle for male athletes and snatch for female athletes. Also they will have standard weight of kettlebells for this competition: 32 kg for men and 24 kg for women (only professional class). BUT all athletes will compete in same bodyweight class. Absolute bodyweight class, no any categories.

The last TAFISA Games were held in Siauliai (Lithuania) in 2012. TAFISA has Games ones for four years. So it will be interesting event and useful for kettlebell sport development. Welcome!

Indian National Kettlebell Competition

Mumbai 2016, kettlebell competition3rd EKFA National Kettlebell Competition in India was held in Mumbai on 10th Jan 2016. For awareness they conducted Kettlebell competition in 5 states of India: Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Indore. They received very good response as compared to first 2 years. In all competitions combining together were over 100 athletes competing.

Indian events are powered by Bodypower expo and unlimited nutrition. EKFA is affiliated to IUKL and is working to develop Kettlebell athletes across country.

The New Year kettlebell event in Russia

Russian kettlebell snatch 2016End of 2015 they in Russia had all-Russian kettlebell marathonRussian snatch - 2016”. Rules of “Russian snatch” are very easy. Every participant should do 2016 snatches with 16 kg kettlebell. The athlete who shows the best time of snatch will win this competition. 

They in Russia had a lot of same competitions in different cities around the country the same time. Some people did snatch without competition – just to take part of this great event.

The first time same style competition was held in December 2012 in Tomsk city. This year it became all-russian kettlebell event.

Kettlebell lifters have oun style of celebrating the New year!

IUKL World Championships result

IUKL World Championships 2015

IUKL World Kettlebell Championship was held 26-29 November in Dublin (Ireland). A little less than 600 athletes came to Ireland for competing. World championships among juniors and veterans were held the same time and the same place. 37 countries were in list of team results protocol.

Many athletes have really professional results. Nobody knew who will win gold, silver and bronze medals. Russian competitors achieved great result. Also athletes from Kazakhstan, USA, Ireland had a lot of high results.

Russian team has first place of team competition. Kazakhstan – second place, USA – third place.

They had IUKL representatives meeting on the second competition day. They were talking about kettlebell competitions in 2016. The calendar of competitions 2016 you can find in our Kettlebell events section.
World Championship 2016 will be in Kazakhstan.
